Road Safety Awareness Program
About This Program
The Road Safety Awareness Program has been implemented by Progress Through Innovation Society Education Organization since January 2025. The main objective of this program is to increase awareness among school-going students about road safety. Students from urban, suburban, and rural areas face various risks while traveling to and from school every day. Through video sessions, quizzes, and discussion segments, students are informed about traffic rules, safe walking practices, and responsible behavior on the road.
Objectives :
To provide students with basic knowledge about traffic rules and road safety.
To teach safe and responsible use of roads.
To spread road safety awareness within families and communities through students.
To establish a foundation for regular awareness programs at the school level in the future.
Target Group :
Students from Grade 6 to Grade 10 (from various government and private schools).
Program Implementation Process :
To ensure successful implementation of the Road Safety Awareness Program, activities are carried out in three phases.
Pre-event Phase:
Participating schools are selected, and road safety-related videos and quiz questions are prepared. Necessary communication and approvals are obtained from schools, government officials, and media representatives. Promotional materials, banners, signboards, and certificates are also prepared.
During the Event:
The program begins with a warm-up session where students are introduced to the topic through initial discussion. An 8-minute and 5-second video on road safety is then shown, followed by a discussion. Students actively participate in a quiz competition, and in the closing session, guests and the school’s head teacher distribute certificates among the participants.
Post-event Phase:
Feedback is collected from schools and students, media coverage is ensured, and follow-up meetings are organized with schools, media representatives, and traffic police to strengthen collaboration and plan future activities.
Achieved Outcomes :
Students gained clear knowledge about traffic rules, road signs, and safe movement on roads.
Through quizzes and discussions, students actively participated and were able to identify safe and unsafe behaviors.
Partnerships were established with participating schools for future collaborative programs.
Media reports in print and electronic platforms helped raise public awareness about road safety.
Future Plans :
Expand the program to 10 more schools in the second quarter of 2026.
Establish regular Road Safety Clubs for students.
Conduct ongoing awareness activities at the local level in collaboration with traffic police and media.
Launch a digital learning platform focused on road safety.
